FIB hosts and facilitates exclusive evenings by invitation only for local family businesses to gather and enjoy a relaxed evening with 2 course meal, coffee and open discussion – all under the provision of Chatham House rules.
The evenings are an opportunity to meet family business peers, share thoughts, challenges and ideas in a safe environment.
The Dinner & Discussion evenings do have FIB advisers on hand for any support if needed. These advisers sponsor the evening and so there is no charge to our guests.
Each dinner has approximately 15 guests and is an open agenda to allow free following and honest discussions to take place is a protected environment.
Guests are from non competing businesses and carefully selected.
As an example, conversations can include sibling rivalry, succession dilemas, historical differences, family concerns, skills and talent issues, the future plans for growing a business, valuations, letting go, empowering non family executives, how to buy out parents, governance issues and many more.
We aim to raise money for a local charity at these events but details are provided prior to the evening.
We hold the events at family owned venues where possible – and these can include stately homes, high end restaurants and so on. It is an informal and relaxed event.
I had no idea such a wonderful event existed – I loved every minute
I didn’t know what to expect but it was incredible
I can’t believe how easy it was to open up – such a relief to share and hear other people’s stories and experiences
I have spent all my working life [60 years] believing it was only me that felt as I did.
It was wonderful to realise I’m not alone
What an enjoyable and relaxed evening! The other guests were fabulous
I’ve come away with a list of ideas and things to look at, thank you
